Light gold color. Medium head. Aroma is bready, grainy and fruity. A medium bodied bock. Malts are sweet and fruity. Hops are mild and spicy. A fairly standard smooth tasting, well balanced bock. It’s perhaps a little sweet. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet

I'm still not sure if Auerhahn Bräu Schlitz brews beer, or if it's Lauterbacher Burgbrauerei -- both are listed on the label. But I am sure that this is something of a Winter/Holiday-version of Pale Bock -- just like I'm sure that this isn't something that I particularily enjoy, to be honest.

Standard long-tall 500mL German Lager brown bottle. Burgundy hued label, with a gold outline, and a peacful looking village clad ala Winter Wonder Land, with white and gold star-like snowflakes drifting down.

A rather auburn looking beer, with a nice looking head of foam, and a decent amount of lace later on. Aroma isn't too bad, either -- rather perfumey in it's maltiness.

Before I get too carried away, should I mention that I don't care for most Bocks? I respect the craft of course, but just can't get as excited about a sweet malty Lager, than I do about a fine dry bitter Ale. That having been said, this is about "par for the course" as far as Bocks go. Malty and a touch on the sweet side, which is fine for the style, but doesn't really thrill me much. I'm sure there is some hops in here somewhere, but not enough to notice.

Finishes well enough, and it's a plus in my book that the mouthfeel doesn't get sticky-sweet mid-glass. So overall, the drinkability doesn't suffer nearly as much (IMO) than what I would expect from a Bock-style beer. Kudos, there.

I'm a terrible judge of this style, but have to admit that it was no incredible feat drinking (and finishing) this beer. Nothing I would buy again, but surely nothing that I would scoff at, either. A bare-bones Bock that didn't repulse this hop-head of a reviewer.
