Newly labeled as Arcadia Loch Down, I was overly impressed by this tasty brew. Mottled cola colored pour with a medium sized light tan head and decent lacing. Huge malt content with lots of dark fruits, earthy peat, caramel and a very slight smoky meat hint. Herbal and earthy with a medium body and high sweetness.

Pours out in a hazy dark brown colour with a rich sticky off-white head. Malty if a bit too clean aroma of caramel, mild peat, leather and fudge with hints of wild raspberries and prunes. Medium to full-bodied with rich rounded malty notes of fudge, prunes, blackberries and sweet licorice with dryish undertones of black pepper. Long malty aftertaste of toffee, milky chocolate, nut-shells and roasted malts. A tasty offering from Arcadia that usually make me disappointed.

As Arcadia uses a Celtic style font for their labels, I was expecting more from their Scotch ale. It pours a deep ruby red, with a thin head. The aroma was roasted malt, molasses, and raisins. The flavour wasn't as sweet or as full as other Scotch ales

Arcadia Scotch Ale 2.3 cheapdark On tap at the Bocktown, nice place. Dark brown with virtually no head. Clean and nice aroma. At first, taste is leathery and then the alky morphs to the forefront. As session continues, lots of alky flavors get in yer face. Becomes difficult at times. Strong stuff and the 7.5% is readily apparent. Too much for this lager lover. Surprizingly, the finish is acceptable when comparing it to the alky impact of the taste.

Poured a good sized deep tan head and the beer had a ruby brown colour. Good retention and better than average lacing that really stuck to my glass. Aroma was interesting with its slight smoky overtone, mix of heavy malts, and lots of dark fruit - most notable was cherry and then plum....also had a earthy aroma. Pretty stiff overall. Tastes of dark sweet fruits (cherries), dank wood, caramel, roasted malts and probally a touch of chocolate. Mouthfeel was fairly smooth, but I did notice the extra alcohol as a burn. Medium bodied and a slight bitterness and an aftertaste that doesn't go away to fast. Not bad, a bit too harsh and I don't think I want more than 2 in one sitting.

The Arcadia Scotch Ale was a pleasant suprise. Picked this one up in a mixed six pack at the local Pit Stop. The pour is a deep brown with definite red hues mixed in. The aroma is of sweet malt, and is very vinuous. The taste follows, with the heaviness of malt coming through strong. The flavors are nice and sweet too--hints of caramel for sure. I will be glad to get my hands on some more in the near future. A very interesting scotch ale.

Poured a brown colr with some reddish hues, and a small off white head. Vinous aroma, also consisting of caramel, vanilla and malt. Smokey and roasted malt taste.
