Clear dark copper, light brown lacing foam. Interesting mix of alt beer and dortmunder. Light caramel roasted aroma, somehow returning in taste. Bit strange. (Velp 201612)

500 ml capped bottle. Poured a clear oak-burgundy coloured Dunkel with a good three fingers tan creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is strong roasted malts, spicy, licorice, some molasses, a weak touch of smoke. The flavour is strong roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, fruity with cooked vinous tones. The mouthfeel is prickly and very smooth although a bit syrupy. This medium bodied Dunkel has a long roasted malts finish. A well balanced and tasting Dunkel from a legendary Klosterbrauerei.

Reddish brown with big firm white foam. Deep amlty aroma of toffee, almond, toasted bread, burnt sugar and grass. Wonderfull and deep malty flavour of light chocolate, fresh baked ryebread, raisinbread and toffee. Extremely well-balanced aftertaste of roasted malt, toffee and nuts. This is an awesome dunkel!

500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. ABV is 4.9%. Typical dunkel clear reddish brown colour, very good and lingering light tan head. Very nice aroma of moderately roasted malts, flaked nuts, caramel and bakery. Flavour is malty and nutty with notes of dark bread and caramel, not too sweet. German dunkels are not "big" beers, but are, when well made, a truly enjoyable drinking experience. This is one of them.

I had this beer at the Porterhouse in Dublin. I've never seen Andechser beers in the US, so I decided to give this one a shot. Dark reddish-brown color with a very malty aroma and flavor. Too buttery, malty sweet for me.
