Since “Willy” is so versatile and can be flavored with fruits and essences, we add a touch of vanilla extract to compliment the sweet nuttiness. Also good mixed with Captain Stout, a blend we call “The Captain and Vanil.”

Pours clear solar yellow with a thick and rather persistent porcelain head. Aroma features wheaty, vanilla, and subtle yeasty notes. Flavor ups all of these, especially the vanilla, and adds a hint of woody hops for a tasty if a wee bit sweet beer. Body and fizz are so-so, but finish provides a last flash of vanilla. This one isn’t faking it.

This is a fairly rare offering from The Alpine Beer Company, that may be only available at their tasting room at the brewery itself (when/if they happen to have it all). Which is a shame, since this is a great beer. Talking with the owner's wife, this isn't much more than the Willy infused with vanilla beans in the Bright tank -- 5 whole beans in a 50 gallon vessel -- for typically a semi-random amount of time. :)

Regardless of the "mad science project gone wild!"-aspect of this beer, this is really nice and drinkable. The vanilla is there at all times, but not so in-your-face that it detracts from the Willy -- a fine Kristalweizen in it's own right.

Another winner from the brewery, that hopefully will get more exposure in times to come.

A nice, light vanilla flavored ale from a great brewery. Not too sweet and kind of refreshing.

freezer burnt non-french vanilla ice cream aroma with a musty/oxidized tone to it...a light clear yellow color and thin head...Mellow sweetness hinted at..well..vanilla sweet accented water. no real body at all. i mean, its all good and light and foophoo...with the vanilla being sort of a essence kinda thing...but novelty in my mind.

cloudy golden, little head if all. Smells much and very much like french vanilla ice cream. Tastes just like a vanilla cookie. For what it is, its really good.
