A complete mess of a dunkelweizen, the pour even below average, no problems pouring the bottle into my weizen glass. OK head, didn't have great retention, got a beautiful look at lots of yeast sedimentation in the glass. The aroma was caramel and light bananas, some off notes. The flavor was nasty caramel, sour caramel and bananas is probably the best way to describe it. Yeast elements were low, complete lack of phenolic character, and no even slight roasted notes. This was a loser dunkelweizen, sorry to say. Why did I buy another Allgauer?

Light brown color. Large white foamy head. Aroma is malty, biscuity, hints of banana, clove and caramel. A light to medium bodied German Hefe. Malts are fruity and sweet. Nice banana and clove flavors. Hints of caramel. Hops are slightly spicy. A nice light and refreshing hefe. The taste is maybe a little watery, but it makes up for it with a nice crisp dry finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
