Catfish is a deep copper colour, with a distinct sweet malt character, balanced with a subtle fruitiness, from the ale yeast, and finishes with a firm hop finish.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I thought it was gonna be another random Manitoba mass produced garbage but it wasn't too bad. It was nothing special but better than your average beer. Nice and easy drinking too.

Franchise brewed By Northern Breweries for Agassiz ( Now New Manitoba Brewering). A moderately hard pour put a light copper ale in the glass with a nice frothy cap that lasted well enough....good lacing on the glass....soft carbonation allows the falvor profile to develop on the palate. Aroma was pleasant ; sweet toasted malts over fruity yeast esters and grassy hoppiness. Mouth feel is on the thin side of medium bodied, creamy in texture and very smooth and mellow in profile delivery. Taste is well balenced and reminisant of a traditional cream Ale with sweet roasted, chewy caramel malts played off against the grassy hops and distinct cidery-fruity yeast by broducts....finish is wet with a light bittering and a caramel after taste. This is the first micro or mass produced Cream ale that I have tasted that is fairly true to this uniqely Canadian style and verrrry drinkable...I like it..has everything a session ale/lager needs..good flavour profile, satisfying and drinkable....very much in the same niche’ as Robert Simpson ale. I’ll buy more for sessions and get togethers. Northern has proven it can make a good mass produced super premium beer with Red Maple, Edelbrau and now, Catfish. I just wish they'd bring back Edelbrau...it would make a perfect matched pair Ale/lager session beers.

Ok so now this is my 3rd review for this beer, and my second in 2 days! It seems leaving it in the fridge overnight and all the next day gets rid of that brown sugar taste and actually brings about a dry kind of hop taste, albeit a wee watery, more so out of the glass than the bottle. An average brew that's not bad for a sessioner or even gettin' wasted, though only once in a while, but just make sure you keep it in the fridge cold.

Had this one at the Pub Italia on Preston in Ottawa, Ontario. Poured a golden honey amber colour with a small head and amount of lacing. The carbonation was lively. The nose and taste were both light in fruit, like peach. Also found in the taste was grain malt and a clean finish. The mouthfeel was creamy and almost sandy, in a way. Overall, a very well-brewed beer with very nice peachy taste and aromas, and a good first experience with Agassiz brewery.
