Porters are dark, chocolatey beers and first cousins to stouts. We used some molasses in the boil to add some depth of character and then smoked a small portion of the grain over a peat fir to give it a light smokiness as well. Don’t let the color fool you, this is a very drinkable beer.

Pours warm coffee brown with a thin but serviceable buff head. Smoky aroma presents a definite molasses tone, plus roast malt and hints of chocolate. Roast malt and molasses lead the flavor, while chocolate and earthy and even hoppy notes co-star. Body is thin for a porter, but fizz is strong and persistent. Move your asses for molasses!
