Pours a huge foamy tan head that doesn't stick around very long and leaves a thin ring around inside. Has an extremely dark appearance, almost pitch black. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, toasty malts and even hints of soya? Flavours are sweet, malty, chocolate, coffee and mocha. Some earthy hops as well. Very tasty and all around thickness and slight bitterness. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Warming sensation. Full bodied. Faint carbonation. Medium length finish. Sweet and bitter, well balanced. Nicely done, not too strong and goes down real well.

2012 edition, found at the LCBO. Brown bottle with black wax over cap. Pours a real dark brown colour with no highlights found. Average head, creamy mocha, decent retention and a little lace. Beautiful coffee aromas with notes of roasted malt, molasses and nuts. Full-bodied with a nice silky smooth mouthfeel, and no burning at all. The taste is even mild, but with some roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, burnt wood, and hops showing in the end, giving some hints of apples. Goes down too smoothly... dangerous !! Nice to see one of the better Amsterdam products appear in Ottawa stores. Keep 'em coming !

First time I had this beer I thought, got to get some more. Second time around, meh, not as good. Appearance was so different. Flavour still good but for an immpy stout I expect a little more. For anyone reading ,It's worth a try.

The beer poured a solid black colour with a thin creamy tan coloured head. Aroma was pretty standard with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy with medium carbonation. The flavour mirrored the aroma with coffee and chocolate notes. .

Taps a deep dark brown with a 2 finger sand colored cap...good head retention, soft carbonation. Aroma is pleasant with common Impy tones coffee, cocoa sweet malts some grassy hops. Light bodied for an Imp, nice rounded character, good balance and a touch of complexity, gets bitter and roasty in the finish. Very approachable for an IMP, too easy to drink too many of these.

A new Impy stout from Amsterdam. Colour - a solid dark brownish-black with a thin creamy brown head. Aroma - roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Mouthfeel - medium to full. Flavour - sweet coffee laden chocolate, although the alcohol was noticeable. Overall - decent.
