1 (La Lièvre) L'Étoile du Nord Canada Pale Lager 1.6

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 3 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2

Bought in Laval at Dépanneur-À-Tout-Prix. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a creamy white head. Average retention leaving great thick lace all around. Little carbonation, here and there. Weird scent with hints of lemon. Wooooo ! The taste is even worst. Some infected sourness. Yukk, plain gross. The look is all this one has.

2 10 Barrel Apocalypse IPA United States IPA 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Enjoyed at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier, VT. Pours a slightly haze amber colour with good lacing all around and a head with decent retention. Good hoppy nose with orange notes. Same flavours with the nice orange blending over the hop. A nice mix of citrus (grapefruit for hop, orange-fruitiness for malts). Quite refreshing.

3 14th Star Maple Breakfast Stout United States Stout 3.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Can from a trip to Vermont. Dark brown colour with a little ruby highlights. Creamy-frothy beige head with some nice retention and great creamy lacing. Licorice aromas blended with the roasted malts and some hints of dark fruits, molasses. The taste has the roasted malts again, with... well, not much more. The burnt notes that lingers. If maple in here, it is too blended, making it hard to find. Very weak hints of sweetness, somewhere. Maybe. Cocoa powder at the most. Not sure if just too old. Under can, written 02/01/17 TAP THIS.

4 14th Star Tribute United States Imperial IPA 3.9

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Enjoyed in Vermont in October 2016, visiting friends. Pours a hazy golden colour with a warm creamy-foamy head, long lasting and lots of lacing. Herbal aromas with lots of oranges. Again, herbal tasting with the orange notes. Not too bitter, but a nice dryness, all well-balanced by the fruitiness. So easy to drink. Quite a nice DIPA.

5 14th Star Valor Ale United States Amber Ale 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Can from trip to Vermont. Pours a clean amber colour with frothy warm cap, good retention and sticky lacing. Fresh hops in the smell at first, but gets greener, grassier with time with light caramel base. The taste is not as hoppy at first, but becomes more and more bitter. Nice grass lingers. Good clean amber background. Gets hazy at last pour. Just like the label says "A hoppy amber ale". And a nice one at that.

6 3 Fonteinen Framboos Oogst (Framboise) Belgium Fruit Lambic 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

2018 edition in a beautiful designed, 375ml green bottle with cork and crown. Wow, this is pretty different, and not the typical Belgium Raspberry Lambic. It takes some time getting use to it, but this unique fruity one grows well. The no sugar, artificial juices or syrup added is what does it here. No fake aromas and taste. Hazy amber-orange, small light-beige head, low stay. Aromas of raspberry, their seeds, sourness and wooden hints. So yes, very woody-seedy. Decent sour notes in the middle of the taste, lingers. Same in the flavours, but a little better balanced. Quite an interesting Framboise Lambic.

7 4 Degrees Hill 70 Canada Belgian Ale 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

A little unfiltered with transparent particles floating all around. Golden colour with a creamyish, off-white head, long lasting and leaving good creamy lacing. Straw malt aromas with hints of pears, bananas, spices and alcohol. Flavours of Belgian blonde yeast, light spices and some decent grassiness. Warming alcohol and drying, bitterness blending in the finish. An interesting Belgian blonde with a touch more hops for the style, so blending grassy notes with the Belgian-style.

8 4 Degrees Lanark Highlanders Canada Lager 2.7

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 5

Golden colour with a bunch of tiny, transparent particles through it. A white frothy, bubbly head, average stay and light lace. Straw malt base with some hoppiness, that give out grassy, chlorine hints. The taste blend a little better the hoppiness with the malts. A touch of cereal does come out. An easy lager, with the hops being better in the flavours.

9 4 Degrees The Trash Panda Canada Oatmeal Stout 3.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Slightly hazed, dark brown colour with an amber-copper highlight. The mocha-coloured head is fizzy, disappearing rather quickly, just leaving a faint ring around the brew. Roasted malt nose with hints of dark fruits, molasses. The taste is milder as well with the roasted barley, and not really much else. A little dryness in the end, so really not thick of a mouthfeel. Not getting much of the oats. Nothing offensive though. Just a plain, easy-drinking stout.

10 4 Hands Brewing City Wide American Pale Ale United States American Pale Ale 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Bought a 4-pack of cans while in St. Louis on a trip. Pours a slightly hazed, golden colour with a big white frothy head, very nice stay and patches of foamy lacing. Aromas are a nice balance of fresh grassy hops and caramel malt base. A little diacetyl maybe. The taste is hoppy as an APA should be with the malts being shown the background. A nice dryness and full bitterness for a Pale Ale. Nothing lingering, so was quite easy to drink as my go-to beer there.

11 4 Origines Hopération Canada Imperial IPA 3.9

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Slightly unfiltered with very tiny particles, a golden colour with a big creamy, lightly-warm head, very good retention leaving some dirty lacing. Big raisin aromas with other dark fruits. Plums, dates, fairly rich and sweet nose. Thankfully, the taste is not as sweet. Yes, some raisins, white wine flavours with a decent dryness in the finish to cut things nicely. The bitterness builds up as it goes. Lots going on here, and quite different all-around, but a nice West Coast-style Double IPA.

12 4 Origines Houbombe Canada IPA 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Hazy golden-amber colour with a frothy warm cap, good stay and with nice creamy-bubbly lacing. Citrus aromas (mostly oranges) with the grassiness and hints of honey. The taste showcases the hopbomb, as says the name in fresh. Lots of grassy hops creating bitterness, warmth and alcohol. Fairly dry in the end with some tart from yeast. This is a pretty good West Coast IPA.

13 46 North Brewing Lazy Day Canada American Pale Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

GF brought this back from her Sudbury trip this summer. 500ml brown bottle that pours a slightly unfiltered amber colour, an off-white head, good retention with full lacing. Grassy, mildly citrus hop nose over the cereal grains. Mostly oranges come out for the citrus. The taste shows the same, with more of the greener grass from the hops. Not sure about the hops here, as what bugs me a little is that grass-orange combo. Other than that, not a bad first brew and can't wait to visit this brewery.

Can from a Nita IPA-pack with other locals. Pours a slight hazed, light-yellow colour with a big frothy white cap. good retention and some patchy foam lacing. Citrus aromas with very mild grass, and some interesting berry-fruity notes. The taste is mild as an APA should be, with the same found in the nose and what seems to be... gooseberries :P

15 5 Paddles Home Sweet Home Canada Spiced Beer 2.6

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

Pours a clean golden-amber colour with a warm cap, pretty long lasting with some full lacing. Expecting a sweet nose, but no, some non-pleasant hops. The taste is a little better with some honey notes over the grain with the still present hops, but better blended. Mild vanilla lingers. Honey does show up near the end in the nose. Still, a little unbalanced. Not one I would try again.

16 5 Paddles In Your Face IPA Canada IPA 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Part of the Ontario Craft Brewers IPA mixed 6-pack. Hazy, lightly golden coloured with a big frothy off-white cap, very long lasting and leaving foamy lacing. Some particles through it. Lemon zest nose with some vanilla hints. The mouthfeel is fairly dry, and some good bitterness come out of this one. Still, some crispness which is nice going down. Hops linger on the tongue with citrus zest and some milder grassiness. Definitely West Coast, so well-brewed if this is your thing.

After my first experience with this brewery, I was not impressed with their Home Sweet Home. Maybe I was expecting too much from their description. This one though, so far is quite the opposite. Hazy golden-amber with a huge head that stays way long with the tiny bubble carbonation that is quite active. Thick foamy lace. Spicy herbal nose that pleases me well. The taste has a nice sweetness, but well-balanced with the hops and basil. A little dry mouthfeel. Can't believe this is a light beer (4.2% ABV). Wow, I quite like this one. You had me at Basil.

18 5 Paddles Juice Campbell Canada IPA 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Last can from the Nita "IPA Mix Pack" with other breweries. Pours a fairly clean golden, bright yellow colour with an off-white frothy head, good stay and some creamy lacing streaks. Sweet fruity nose with citrus, mangoes, some tropical fruits, sugars and bitter grassy hops, boozy. A little weird in the nose I must say, but that is what Bruce does with his chin. A little better balanced in the taste, between the fruitiness, not so sweet anymore, and drying hops. Hints of mangoes are still present. Gets hazier as it pours. Seems more like a DDH IPA than juicy, but good nonetheless.

19 512 IPA United States IPA 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7

Had this one at Dirty Dog bar in Austin, TX. Poured a hazy golden-amber colour with a white cap and dirty lacing. Grassy hop aromas with some orange notes and caramel cereal malts base. Flavours are fairly bitter with the hops over light fruity malts. The mouthfeel is on the dry side. An average IPA that is not juicy, like most nowadays, not a hopbomb, but rich and grassy.

20 5e Baron / À La Dérive NZ Pale Canada American Pale Ale 3.7

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

A slight unfiltered, hazy, light-golden colour with a frothy white cap, good stay and leaving some nice foamy lacing. Mild, but good aromas of the straw malt base with a nice herbal, citrus touch. The mouthfeel is crisp and not too thin, with some character. Flavours of light citrus juices, some hints of zest, oats. A nice light Pale Ale that has a little more punch than most of this style.

21 5e Baron / Blood Brothers / Third Moon Interstice Canada IPA 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Very slightly unfiltered, golden colour with a frothy warm-white cap, good stay and the lacing is nice, streaky, foamy. A beautiful aromas of spiciness, herbal and hints of citrus. The taste has lots of citrus peel, blended with grassiness, creating some decent dryness. A nice straw malt nose comes out to balance things. Quite a unique IPA that has a West Coast feel, without being a hopbomb, but some good ingredients blending.

22 5e Baron / Dominion City RedWood Canada IPA 3.7

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

A slight hazed, amber colour with nice creamy-frothy, light-beige head, very long lasting and leaving full creaminess around the glass. Aromas blending the fruitiness of a red ale, mild caramel, toffee and the grassy hops of an IPA. The mouthfeel is wet, medium-bodied with a drying finish. Fruity malts in the flavours, a little toasty and decent grassiness to conclude. A pretty good collaboration Red IPA that is easy to drink.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

A very slight hazed, light golden colour with a big frothy-bubbly white cap, good stay and lots of foamy patches on the glass. Wheat nose with mild banana notes, and some citrusy touch of sourness with the grassy hops. This hoppiness continues into the taste with some dry, grassiness and bitterness. The Belgian Ale hints are in the the background with a mix of wheat, yeast and spices. A nice light Belgian Ale with lots of hop action.

24 5e Baron / Foam Jam Sesh Canada Foreign / Extra Stout 3.7

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 8

Dark brown colour with ruby-copper highlights, a big light mocha-coloured head, frothy, somewhat creamy, good retention and creamy-foamy lacing. Roasted malt aromas giving some mild dark fruit notes, like dates, dry plums. Hints of cacao and coffee. The mouthfeel is slightly silky, but gets dry pretty quick, and lingers. The same flavours found in the nose with some good grassiness of hops in the end. Not super coffee, but a well-balanced stronger, dry stout.

25 5e Baron / Gallicus / À la Dérive / Bas-Canada L'Odyssée Canada American Pale Ale 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Lightly hazed, glowing golden colour with a white bubbly-frothy head, decent retention and soapy-foamy lacing clouds left. Citrus aromas at first, but some melon comes out from the Enigma and mango-pineapple from the Azacca hops. The mouthfeel is fairly juicy with just a touch of dryness. A nice blend of tropical fruitiness in the taste, with lots going on. Quite a nice collab, full juicy New England Pale Ale that is refreshing.
