Banana and phenolicly spicy aroma, with some backing dark, dried fruits. Light brown brew with a very bubbly, big head. A full, but refreshing mouthfeel, however a bit much too carbonation, even for a quad. Fruity, caramelly flavors, signatures of the style, really. However, the hop bitterness was bit out of whack when I had this. Some time should serve this very well, and lots of time sure wouldn't hurt either...I'll evaluate again in a few years...

Pours with a blast of an aroma for an aged beer, hardwood smoke, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, wood, some mild oxidation (the good kind) and malt. Dark brown, very dark, small stand of head. Smooth, very smooth in the mouth and soft carbonations. I would like a bit more CO2 prickle...but honestly, I'm not complaining. Rich and balanced flavor, complimenting the aromatics and taking their lead perfectly. An excellent variation on a personal favorite. I was hesitant about this being in the wood for a year, but I must say, its done quite nicely for itself. Thanks, O'Fallon. EDIT: I had a taste of the new batch out of a Buffalo Trace Barrel...holy crap, if they bottle this at the right time, it has the potential to be something really phenomenal...even then it was excellent...I'll wait to update my numbers until the new release hits the shelves.

Another great sample from Dave at O'Fallon. Sweetly hoppy aroma, smelly like Crystal and Columbus, for sure, resinous and green. Copper pour with eggshell foam, and a medium, but quenching mouthfeel. Balanced hoppy flavor with a very nice malt backing, I doubt the 100IBUs, but if so...its well played. Take a bunch to the beach, and only come back for more. Long live good beer in cans!

Cool, a can! With great beer in it! Man, this is a really nice brown ale, the only one better at the party was the one I brought...hehe. But seriously, the chocolately-citrusy aroma with caramel and nutty noted, dark brown body and khaki head, silky smooth mouthfeel and balanced flavor put this near the top. Throw a few in your cooler and head to the park, this stuff is good.

A very nice Tripel that I picked up several months ago in Dallas, TX. Enjoyed a few weeks ago, before Christmas. This was a cleaner Belgian Golden Strong Ale, but still phenolic and mildly fruity. Clean and crisp malt flavors, mildly spicy hops and balancing bitterness. Well rounded and quite nice.

I had this at a couple of festivals and debated adding it to the database since its a festival only offering and not for sale...but what the hell...right? An incredibly rich malty aroma, melanoidins, low amounts of caramel, a bit of coffee/cocoa-ish aromas. Deep dark brown, small bit of foam. Smooth and full mouthfeel, warming but not burning. Flavors reflect the aromatics, especially the amazing maltiness here. Quite a special offering here.

Malty and mildly fruity and spicy aroma, but not as jump out of the glass aggressively aromatic as some Saisons ring in with me. Light khaki body and wisp of foam. Lively carbonation and lighter mouthfeel at first, more coating as it warms. Clean malty flavors highlighted by mild fruitness and spicy hop presence. Really more of a Biere de Garde to me, which is not a bad thing, however, as a Saison, it lacks the funk. But, as French farmhouse ale, it does its job well in my estimation.

Wow! A six pack of doppelbock for 5.49! Wait...it must taste like crap, right? This just doesn't add up...I'm suspicious...but thirsty. Fine, I'll get a sixer. Hmm...not bad, not bad at all. Malty, sweet aroma, dark brown body, smooth and clean, this Doppelbock is for real. Its not the greatest I've ever had, but for that price, I think I'll be back. A really enjoyable beer without being punished come bill paying time.

Pours pale gold with a midly malty aroma dominated by stale/cardboard. Which carries through the flavors and confirms my worst fears about this beer destroyed by distance. It may have had some nice malt and hop flavors, but after whatever this has been through, I sure wouldn't know...

An incredibly rich aroma of cherries, vanilla, wood, acid, malty caramel, hints of cocoa, fruit and grain. Cloudy brown with nearly no foam. Soft mouthfeel initially followed by an acidic bite...nice contrast. Malty sweet, tart acid, fruity cherries, vanilla and toasty oak, quite nutty, as well. A very complex and even more impressively, well balanced brew. Thanks, Dan. This is awesome.
