Do you favor a particular brewery?

General Beer Discussion by KENDOSURF

As a Beer Enthusiast, I like many brews from both the macro & micro categories. Or to put it another way, maybe BigBizBeer vs Craft? :) Founders is my favorite! Not the BEST economy price point, but for the quality it's VERY GOOD. ;) Overall, the only mediocre product of theirs (imo) is All Day IPA. Drinkable, but...eh. :( Admittedly, this area is limited in Founders availability. Recommended ones that I've never seen are Backwoods Bastard and the classic KBS (or whatever they are calling it now). My favorites are Dirty Bastard, Centennial Ale, and Green Zebra. :) :) :) A few others are also around from time to time. I guess I've drank them all, and no complaints. ;) So then BeerPal Regulars (or Visitors)...care to comment on the breweries that YOU LIKE THE BEST ??? :D :D :D

Centennial IPA, that is. ;) Ya know, this IPA "fad" has been around for a long time. If only Lager could be so much in vogue again! Yeah, there's the macroswills...but I mean how about the Craft category?

I think part of the "IPA fad" was the ridiculously hoppy West Coast types that seemed to care more about shock value than flavor. I was into them for a very short while before realizing I wasn't enjoying them! And when they did try to balance the hop, it was as if they threw in a sugar cube and half a stick of butter to make it easier to swallow :P

Outside of the well-rated Belgian brewers, I don't have any favourites. Too much inconsistency. . As for IPA, I would love an old fashioned piney west coast style IPA that existed pre-2012 when all of a sudden everybody decided that IPAs should taste like passion fruit, guava, and mango.

Flora Hall is right beside my work, so easy to get beers from them. With time, I have noticed they seem to be the best for consistency. I like beers of Brasserie du Bas-Canada, but they are always out of cans. And their amazing sweet stouts are 10% or more, so hard to sample over there and drive back home. Beyond the Pale is also close by, so another easy one to get beer from outside with this shitty virus thing.

I used to really enjoy Dogfish head, and still like to try their new stuff out every now and then.

There are very few quality breweries from which I have had ALL (or even most of) their beers - and if I am still tempted to say that I favour this or that brewery, you can bet that they come up with a beer I dislike as their next one. But Orval and Westvleteren are safe ....

I have an allegiance to a number of macrobrewers by default. It's what's available and inexpensive. Oh well...without comment, here's a couple links. https://www.pastemagazine.com/drink/best-lagers/30-of-the-best-cheap-macro-lagers-blind-tasted-and/ https://www.visualcapitalist.com/5-big-companies-control-worlds-beer/
