One Bar...One State

General Beer Discussion by HEEMER77

A local place opened up a few months ago featuring only Iowa made beers on their 108 taps! http://iowataproom.com/ I was just wondering if anyone has seen something similar in their area? A bar that features beer only from their state or something similar. Is this unique or a coming trend toward pushing local beers?

I would have thought this was a common thing. There are several bars in Vancouver and Toronto that serve only locally made craft beers. C'est What in Toronto has been doing it for over 30 years, aside from a few Quebec beers on tap (Unibroue, Dieu du Ciel, Trou du Diable), they have served over 4,000 Ontario craft beers from 140 different breweries in that time, There are currently 7-8 bars in Toronto which only serve Ontario craft. There was a bar in Vancouver several years ago that only served BC craft beers too. Now, if they would only get to 100 taps, that would be a good story.

The Old-Fashioned in Madison has 52 Wisconsin beers on tap, and another 79 in bottles/cans. Representation from virtually every brewery in the state. And their beer-battered cheese curds are pretty good too! http://www.theoldfashioned.com/beer-and-spirits/

That's really, really freakin' cool. We're going to have guest taps at our brewery, and we intend for everything to be brewed in CT or RI. There are bars around here with a focus on local, but none that exclusively sell CT beer that I know of.

Wow! Even I try to squeeze in an inane comment every five days or so, and I'm failing at that.

[:)] Rating Beers is good, but I'm not so much into that as the Discussion Forums. [8)] Gets redundant around here. Clicking Beerpal is like going to a mirror when you want to talk to someone.
