You'd think being a Toronto boy I'd say different, but I was actually quite shocked and rather taken aback when Francona won it over Farrell. I really thought Farrell was gonna get it.
This is why the award is voted on based on the regular season. Otherwise the WS winning MGR would win it every year. I can understand the "worst to first" argument if that's what you are thinking, mykee...

"We're a bunch of scrappy progressives who are sick and tired of the GOP/Tea Party nonsense. We won't sit idly by as a coalition of corporate stooges, religious fanatics, racists, sexists, and homophobes destroy our democracy. Join us in the fight to return COMMON SENSE, social justice, and fiscal fairness to America!" I'm instantly a bit turned off by a) the severity of and sweeping nature of the accusations in that statement, and b) that it singles out only GOP/Tea Party politics. The whole 2 party systemm is the problem, not just the one side. I'm getting tired of calling everyone who actually beleives in God and has a set of morals that you don't agree with a religious fanatic, and everyone who has any issue whatsoever with same sex relations is a homophobe (seriously people, look up the term phobia), everyone who dislikes or disagrees with Obama is a racist, etc... That statement is just more of the same divisive crap, from a slightly different angle, and it turned me off enough to not look any farther.

Yep. Well said. I saw the first few words and clicked off. To each their own.

The beer party's beer looks a little pale, the aroma is off-putting, the body is thin and weak, and as for aftertaste, how can you have aftertaste if there is no flavor in the first place? Small beer. Move along, nothing to see here. One mug (out of five). Although, I would like to see a viable 3d party, and I have no problem with the reference to beer. Plus, I do like the positive planks of their platform. I just feel that they need more positive planks (what they are for or will do) instead of all the negative (we're not as bad as the other guys). So, how about a Publick House Party? A return to conversations among neighbors about the best way to handle important issues?

The best way to resolve the vast majority of issues.

My theory is that as goes the Publick House, so goes Democracy. Happy to expand on that thought if there is interest. Bottom line, as control and money and influence migrate to the top of the pyramid, the vast majority of the folks at the bottom will become increasingly dependent and ultimately less free. Myke, I don't care for The Beer Party as they are currently organized. They are just trying to replicate the Tea Party's tactics albeit in a different direction and in that sense, they are not adding much more than has the tepid Coffee Party (http://www.coffeepartyusa.com/). That said, there is clearly a growing interest in the idea of a new, viable 3rd party that builds on Libertarian principles and fosters a return to decentralized city-states and decision-making at the neighborhood level. Preferably over a well-crafted, locally sourced brewed beverage!

Fire pit, a big screen sport in the background, and guys drinking beer, talking about the real problems of live.... That's a favorite of mine. How to empower the common people to put the ideas into action? That's the problem of the current system. DOA, bigger interests prevail. But, yes, this party, the Tea Party, etc.... They won't get us there. Ross Perot was closer but not the Answer. Sigh.
