Moving to the ATL

Non-Beer Discussion by SASSY

I have a favor to ask, but first an announcement: Finally landed a job in the field that I love! So...friends within, around, formerly from, or friends of friends who live in Atlanta, I need your help. If you happen to run across a house for rent, know someone who will need a renter soon, or can offer suggestions on where to look, please share! At the moment, I'm most interested in the East Atlanta areas -- *City* of Decatur, Kirkwood, Ormewood, East Atlanta Village, Edgewood, and Reynoldstown(pretty much in that order...but flexible). Open and friendly community and schools (I have an awesome son who is Autistic, and it's been my experience that diverse neighborhoods are more accepting, integrated, and accessible), 2-3 bedrooms, and acceptable pet (small dog) policy are the only musts. Really not looking to live in the 'burbs, and care more about the community feel than having a fancy house. Position begins Feb. 1st. Hope I still have hair after the next couple of weeks...;) Thanks in advance!

LOL, that's tempting, since I only have one brown ale in the fridge. I've never been a good cellar person...[:D]

Sassy, so proud for you! Awesome! Now we'll all have a place to crash in the ATL. [:D][;)] I expect SweetWater shipments regularly.

Mattfungi, it's a statewide community organizing/development position (federal/awesome little independent state agency that allows more creativity and flexibility than is typical for gov't), primarily around innovative ways to create meaningful community participation for people with developmental disabilities. Thanks everyone! And, yes, BB you shall have a place to crash and all the Sweetwater you want!

We get folks like that at the museum, sometimes from several counties away. They sometimes ask me for guided tours, but at the fourth or second grade level. Their care providers return to us saying that sometimes other museums speak way over the heads of their clients. Good luck in that position and with the warmer weather!

Found a place! Sweet relief. Lease signed and deposit made today. Just in time for me to think more about (possibly) packing, as I start the new job in a week...And enroll kids in schools...And turn on utilities...Okay, it's nap time. :) The house is in a really neat, activisty, artsy, funky, mixed income, diverse community, Edgewood. Only a few minutes from downtown ATL, and a couple miles from the Brick Store Pub. Priorities, ya know!
