closed brewery

Website Comments by MATTFUNGUS

Nicolet Brewery in Florence is defunct. Do we take these off the site or put some sort of addendum so that people, like myself, don't go chasing all over for something that is no longer there.

Proper protocol is to go to the brewery page on this site, click on add or correct info, then state that the brewery is closed icluding a link if there is one to confirm. Then one of the admins will edit the brewery info to include (Out of Business) on that page. I did one like this today and that is how it works.

Yep...definitely don't take them off like they never existed. And who knows how long bottled product stays on the market after a closing (I still see Buckbean in stores). Sometimes a closed breweries beers will be bought and brewed by someone else (Tahoe, Humboldt) so even putting "retired" or "out of business" is no guarantee of inaction...

I also periodically scan the entire database of breweries looking for ones that are closed. I'm currently doing that now. But yeah if you run across one please let us know. I only do this every few years or so.
