travis's road trip

Non-Beer Discussion by MATTFUNGUS

Alright if you meet up with phishpond lets help him document his road trip. couple of days ago i met with him at titletown brewery. He was a really nice guy and told me several stories about beerpal. What impressed me about him was that he knew so many people from Titletown and that he even prided himself in all the years of going to titletown brewery he had missed only two brews. He had also been up to Black Husky Brewery in Pembine (aka nowhere) a few days before and said they were great folks. I only got to see him an hour, but before we departed I took him out to my car and offered him one of my homebrews. He in turn gave me two bottles of Black Husky, one of which was a pale ale that was better than any other pale ale i've ever tried. That's the Green Bay report, who's next?

Alright, here's the damage. 13 days. A list of breweries only: Raccoon River Brewing McCoy's Public House 75th Street River North Brewery Liquid Bread Great Divide Golden City Wynkoop Denver Beer Co. Breckenridge Denver Chophouse Avery Twisted Pine Walnut Brewery Mountain Sun Funkwerks Ft. Collins New Belgium Odell Equinox Squatters Epic Silver Peak Auburn Ale House Moylan's Lagunitas Russian River North Coast Eel River Lost Coast Redwood Curtain High Street Falling Sky Rogue Ninkasi My liver pretty much hates me, but it was a hell of a trip. We spent a lot of hours on the road and a few on a bar stool. We have an incredibly beautiful country with incredible people that live in it. I've taken quite a few cross country road trips in my time and it has yet to get old. Very grateful for all the friends who hosted us on the way out. It was a kick-ass time! [8D]

This might be the most epic road trip I've ever heard of. Amazing. Wish our paths could have crossed.

4051 miles. Driving a 2002 Saab 93 with a car top carrier and a bike rack, we were averaging 24 mpg. Lowest gas price I came across and paid: $3.59/gallon. Somewhere in Wyoming. Highest: $4.69 in California on 101.

And I have to take a written driver's test to get my Oregon license. Shit. I hope I don't fail, it's been 10 years!

I forgot to mention Shine in Boulder. A hippie raw food restaurant that made some freaking awesome brew.

One big difference I noticed in those western states (where I grew up) Huge emphasis on the pedestrian always having the right of way. And in some state the bicyclist is also a pedestrian. The other big diff is that they are called traffic signals not "stop and gooooo lights", or just plain stop lights.[;)]
