It was the third annual blind beer tasting at my in-law's house on Christmas Day. There's some fun prizes for the person who guesses the most correct styles and breweries. I have a nice point system set up and a sheet with about 20 breweries and styles to choose from, so even the totally clueless have a chance at getting some right. It's all for fun and hopefully at the same time educates a few participants. The 8 we tasted: New Glarus Apple Ale Club Premium (Ecuador swill :) ) Boon Mariage Parfait Gueze French Broad Zepptemberfest Lagunitas Our Own Bavarian Doppelweizen Southern Tier Krampus Samuel Adams The Vixen Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Ale The winner won a 1.5L of Russian Malt Liquor. YES!! [:)]

Tis the season, and Scott is doing it in style at the Beachcomber. Some very big beers on tap. I had a growler of the Abyss, and another one of Oakshire Gingerbread Stout. In a day or two Black Butte XXIII and KGB aged one year. Not to mention all the IMP IPAs!

Are they told who the brewers are in advance??? I mean, otherwise...seems nigh impossible!

Nope. The city/state is written down next to the mystery beer in front of them. And then there's a list of possible breweries beside it. I'll read a little background info about each brewery and beer. Two of the beers were from Wisc, so those should have been gimmes!
