Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale

Beer Discussion by FARGINGBASTIGE6

BeerPal Notice: This topic was created for discussion of the beer Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale. Breakfast anyone? Style: Brown Ale Food Pairing: Doughnuts & Pork 13 Ingredients: Briess Cherrywood Smoked Malt, Weyermann Beechwood Smoked Malt, House-smoked Hickory Malt, Great Western 2 Row, Munich, C15, C75 Malts; Applewood-Smoked Bacon, Pure Maple Flavoring, Rogue Micro Hopyard Revolution & Independent Hops, Free Range Coastal Water & Pacman Yeast Specs: 14º PLATO 30 IBU 76 AA 30º Lovibond World Class Package: 750ml painted bottle. Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale Occasionally, holiday brunches are on the agenda, and while Mimosas and Bloody Marys are the standards for these soirees, who could argue with a beer that combines three breakfast standards – doughnuts, maple syrup and bacon – in one tasty pink bottle. A collaboration between Rogue Ales and Voodoo Doughtnuts, this bottle leads with smoky bacon and brown sugar, finishing up with just a touch of maple – almost like a bacon crusted glazed doughnut. The carbonation bats cleanup, clearing off the palate just enough for another sip. And if anything will get conversation started at a party, this is it. Similar to Black Walnut Maple ice cream, but chunks of bacon in it. Everything is better with bacon.

Can anyone see the picture? I'm just getting a red-x in a box. Anyway, this label picture a few weeks back tells me why I thought the Rogue Voodoo beer was going to be a porter...'cause it said Porter!

wow-taking a closer look a the ingedients on the fictional(?) porter label as opposed to the ale that was released, LOTS of differences, besides the obvious differences between a porter and a light amber. No vanilla of any kind in the ale, no maple syrup (pure maple flavoring) and many more smoked things...
