General Beer Discussion by MIKEMORROW

Does any one here get news flashes on what they will be puting on tap? The Beachcomber is on facebook. They keep me up to date on whats happening, beer wise. IPA month continues ... Just tapped in a Mad River Steelhead Double IPA. Nice. And coming soon... Green Flash West Coast IPA, Rogue Brutal Bitter, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid and Deschutes Hop Henge. And I learned that the 3rd keg of Black Butte XXIII will be taped in Feb. That should be right after the Abyss is gone.

There's a couple Reno local places that do it on Twitter or FB. They have websites with taplists that are largely ignored. But trust the accuracy at your own risk.

My local rock Bottom sends out emails with new releases once a month. However, there seem to be more new beers than what they list.

My local good beer bar can't even keep their chalkboard up to date. Their printed list is a little better, but mostly categorized by category. It is always hard for me to find what they actually have on tap. Many times I have ordered multiple beers before getting one that is actually available. I would rather have a smaller, but quality list, like Maproom in Chicago than 100+ taps that aren't well kept and too many for the bartenders to know what is on.

Not a problem here. My local watering hole doesn't even have a webpage. Or a tap list. They have the same thing every day. They did change the two Indian Wells taps to Mammoth brews, which is a very good thing. That is the only change my beloved Jake's Saloon has seen in the eight years I have lived in Lone Pine. ...the only twitter the owner of Jake's knows of is that feeling when her boyfriend touches her....nevermind....

None of the places I frequent do this. It has been suggested, but they're more interested in serving customers then sending out tweets, updating Facebook Pages, or websites. Tis a shame really.
