Halloween is just around the corner. Whats your favorite horror flick?

Non-Beer Discussion by KISSMYBASS

I need to rent a good horror movie this Halloween Eve. Maybe you can tell me your favorite scarie movie and help me locate that perfect movie. My favorites are "When a Stranger Calls" "Halloween" "Friday the 13th" and scarier in other ways are "The Exorcist" and "The Omen" Kissmybass

In Reply To #3 I gotta second The Shining if you haven't seen it yet, or even if you have. It's a Kubrick masterpiece. I'd also like to add to the list with 28 Days Later. Not a traditional horror movie, but it was pretty damned good IMHO.

It depends If you want to be scared Nosrataus the original dracula flick is good. Its black & white and silent. If you want audience participation you can't beat Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Heres my Halloween update. Fri. my wife and I watched Johnny Depp in "From Hell" Its another side of Jack the Ripper you have never seen.(takes place in 1888) Not that scarey, but lots of blood and guts. I would give it a thumbs up. Tonight is my "Shining" night. I've seen it a few times, and I also really like it, but its been awhile,so I'm looking forward to it. It's also a big thumbs up! Thanks for the suggestions, and feel free to keep adding your favorites. I think good horror movies are the hardest to find. Kissmybass

In Reply To #10 Went to Salem, MA yesterday and checked out all the haunted houses, shops, etc. Was pretty fun. Rented some crap horror movie the other night. Something Wishmaster. God it was bad... and I think they made a sequel to it too! On Halloween it's always tough to beat the Mike Myers and Friday the 13th movies. Classics and you can't do wrong there. If you're into ghosts then give the Ring, or Gothika a shot. Freddy Vs. Jason was alright. Put it in during the times your passing out candy tonight so it will be okay if you miss some of it. The Shining is of course a classic! As the years have gone by though, it's starting to show it's age. I can't think of many others I'd recommend from boston's own Stephen King though. Oh and don't get Fear.com... terrible movie. Texas Chainsaw massacre is okay... Wrong Turn is NOT, and Cold Creek Manor and Cabin Fever were just plain awful.

My favorites are the black and white classics such as When The Earth Stood Still, original Frankenstein, Dracula and even the silent movie, Nosferatu. The blood and guts films are entertaining, especially with a group of people, but the old ones hint at the terror and play more upon the imagination...which for me conjures up more terror than having it spelled out in blood and guts. Ah....and then there is Young Frankenstein, which is a hoot!
