I tried this yesterday finally and went out today and bought a box. I think it's a great imp, the honey is an aside and insignificant at best - nothing to be concerned about. Definitely not as big as a world wide, but it's a terrific flavor and somewhere between that and a chicory stout and a lot less alcohol. Pissing contests, triple streams, and making money off of dead people aside, I personally think this is an excellent beer and I hope they'll do it again. 50,000 bottles just isn't that many when I alone can account for 16 of them. Whether you agree with my reviews or otherwise, I really think this is a fantastic brew, and if you like imps you should definitely give it a shot.

I agree with your review (mine was only 0.2 lower) and it was the reason i commented again on this forum. Good to see this great beer getting respect [:D]

Brilliant! A great idea, Jlozier. My fave author most definitely deserves several fine ales named in his honor. Brilliant, I say.

Can't you just honor people that you like, respect, and/or love? I mean, if I was a brewer, you better believe my stout would be in honor of James Joyce, and probably be named for some stream of nonsense from Finnegan's Wake (like one of the seven thunders).
Joyce gets a lot of props out there...your concurrence warms my heart. Here's to Stephen Dedalus, the Blooms, Earwicker, Shem and Shaun!

I haven't rated yet (I switched my beer ratings to another site during the "down" period here and haven't gotten caught up yet), but I didn't like it. IMO, Dogfish tends to ruin a good beer with its wackiness at times. This was a pretty good imperial stout, but the honey and gesho just made it...weird...and not in a good way, imo. I'm glad I split the bomber with someone, because I wouldn't have been able to finish it on my own.
That's it, well articulated.
