In Reply To #13 I am just glad that we will have a World Series without having to look at the EVIL EMPIRE (King George, and his prince pretty boys, Jeter and A-rod) for a season!....It's very refreshing...I have been glued to the set throughout this series....A welcome change!...Congratulations Boston, I hope you reverse the curse! Oiz P.S....Do the Yankees really need Ruben Sierra, Kenny Lofton, Tony Clark, John Olerud, and other stars from other teams as pine riders?.....I mean really, taking advantage of the system the way it is is one thing, but being PIGS is another! P.P.S.S. WHO'S YOUR DAD-DY???...CLAP, CLAP....CLAP, CLAP, CLAP!!!

Congrats to the Red Sox and their fans. I just hope you don't get yourselves too excited... I mean, you will have to face St. Louis or Houston too you know. '86 ring a bell? I must say though, incredible series. I'm so glad that last night was a blow out instead of a 3-2 game or something. I don't think I can take these ulcers any further. I pretty much just got real drunk midway through the game and laughed at the shots of fans near tears in the crowd. So, I got St. Louis tonight, let's see if I screw this one up too. Although, Roger Clemens beating the Sox in game 7 would be damned cool too though.... ;) P.S. Yes, the Yankees really do need Clark and Olerud because our star first basemen is out for the year, and yes we need Lofton because Bernie's getting slower in the outfield (won't matter come next year when we have Beltran out there ;) ), and yes we need Ruben because the Yanks have always had a great role player such as Sojo or Sierra to get that key hit. Apparently no one told Sierra that this year.

In Reply To #6 Can't believe someone hasn't called you on that one. Sox are in the series (FINALLY!) (F%$& tha Yankees) And now, you owe me all the beer in the world. Instead of taking all of it, I'll send you a short list that continually grows longer. I promise, no macro's, only quality brews to be enjoyed at the best of times (like, when beer is consumed.) Believe me, I was the last Sox fan, but the first anti Yankee fan, so I guess that makes me the first Sox fan by default. I GET THE BEER!

In Reply To #6: Have you traded all of your beers yet. What a come back! I'm more of a national league fan, but I was sure glad to see the BoSox beat them Yanks. Sox and Cards in the WS, should be good.

I'm still excited from it... can't wait. Cottrell.. it's impossible to control the emotions of the Sox making it to the WS.

I would have liked to see Houston win it all, but I guess the Cards are OK. The curse still lives. You will see.

In Reply To #15 Cott baby, I know you are not gonna like me for saying this, but eventually the Yanks are gonna have that theory backfire on them...and when it happens they will be falling hard....Why you may ask?....Eventually they are gonna put together a team of veteran stars that will not gell, that will finnish no better than third place (poor babies), and they will not have any minor leaguers developed to come in and fill the voids because their farm system has been ignored by the KING......The law of averages dictates it.....as far as I am concerened, the cracks are forming.....remember the last time they wont the WS???....2000 agains the Mets.....Go ahead and sign Beltran..Who's to say he will get along with all of the egos on that team??...Who's to say that he will play well the the Prince Pretty Boys, Jeter and A-Rod??.....Who's to say he doesn't turn into another Raul Mondesi???......(and boy did the Pirates learn a lesson there!)......Eventually this "sign all of the superstars you can" mentality is gonna blow up in the EVIL EMPIRE'S face....I for one can't wait for that to happen... Oiz

In Reply To #21 The Yankees are a compilation of egos right now, and have been for a couple years. It works though. Why? Because they have the one thing that can bring a bunch of overpaid egos together as a team, Joe Torre. I'm sorry, but this guy is truly one of the best coaches at getting people to play together as a team. I didn't think that Gary Sheffield would work for a second on the team, but he hasn't had a problem not being the star for the first time in his career. Will it backfire eventually? Probably. Raul backfired, but he has never worked well anywhere. Mr. Steinbrenner has a revolving door, if he doesn't like the way you're interacting with the team, then get the hell out. Most people don't like it, but it's harsh treatment like this that makes these pampered players want to play hard. If A-Rod isn't working 2 years down the road, he'll trade him away for some other great stars from say Anaheim, like Vladi or something. And to say the cracks are forming just because they haven't won the world series since 2000 is ludicrous. They went to the WS last year, and were in the ALCS this year. Seems pretty damned good to me, even if we don't have the big trophy. By the way, the farm system for the Yanks has produced: Jeter, Bernie, Soriano (also developed in Japanese leagues, but played in Yankee farm system), Henson (unfortunately went football), Posada, and other smaller names that I can't think of at 2:13 am after being at a wedding reception with an open bar for 10 hours. Their farm system is lacking right now, but they certainly aren't ignoring it. Cashman and the boss keep their ears in foreign markets too, acquiring some duds and some great acquisations like El Duque and Matsui. It seems to be a market that other teams ignore altogether, despite the wealth of great players playing overseas. Not you personally, but I find it disgusting that some Red Sox fans like to use the "you bought the series" excuse, despite having Schilling, Martinez, Ramirez, Foulke, Damon, and others. The hippocracy is a bit much. They are second on the payroll list, so to say the Yankees are the enemy, but it's ok for them to buy great players and stamp out Toronto, B-More and Tampa Bay is a bit strange. And does a pay roll really buy a WS? No. As Oiz mentioned, egos don't always work well together. Ask the Marlins if you need a high pay roll to win the WS. Anyway, again, congrats to the Sox and their fans. They won tonight from what I've heard, was kinda upset I missed the game. Oh well, had all the Sam Adams O'Fest I could drink tonight, I guess that makes up for it.

In Reply To #22 And to say the cracks are forming just because they haven't won the world series since 2000 is ludicrous. I beg to differ with you, Cott...Anything short of a World Championship is unacceptable to King George.....Someone will take the blame for this....like that hitting coach a couple of years ago (or was it last year)....I forget his name.....To say that you made it to the series, and the ALCS is not good enough.....Steinbrenner has again and again stated that (as does everybody)....the difference is the King will stop at nothing to get there, no matter who takes the blame....I can't wait to see who the fall guy is this year!
