Hurrican Charley

Non-Beer Discussion by CHANGEUP45

Anyone else get stuck in this in Florida? 4 hotels, 4 different states, and 4 airports - along with two days late and I finally did make it back.

In Reply To #2 Have no fear - I have returned! It was crazy... we had to evacuate the hotel we were in and drive across the state to another place (of course the hotel didn't have transportation so we rented a car). I was suppose to fly out of Ft. Myers and that airport got nailed. Then when we finally get a flight out on Saturday the plane was 3 hours late to the gate. Missed the connection. Damn Florida hurricanes!

Went down for a break from the rain here in central NY to visit my brother and wife. The first week was gorgeous.....low 90's, walking the beach, reading, swimming, napping....a perfect vacation. Then along came Charley. We didn't have to evacuate on the east coast at all. Charley still packed a wallop when he zipped through the Daytona area where I was. Spent the following day cleaning up the yard of my nephew and wife as they lost quite a few large oak trees. Lots of power lines down and some damage to the roofs of some places. Heck, it was an experience for this "snowbird." I made sure to thank my brother and his wife for a great time and planning Charley for my benefit.....hopefully, when I am back down at Christmas thins will be calmer.

In Reply To #4 We evacuated and went to the east coast - Ft. Lauderdale. Wasn't bad at all there, just a little wind and rain. I guess where we were got hit pretty hard.
