Fourth of July ('05 Edition)
General Beer Discussion by DREWSESLU
OK, its time to ask the question. What is everyone drinking to celebrate their independance this weekend (and to compliment the BBQ, rock'n'roll, explosives and bikinis)? I picked up some Two Hearted, some Liberty Ale, some Ommagang and I have plenty of Hamm's. Also a trip to the Taproom and possibly Morgan Street is certainly in order. Happy Fourth! Cheers!

Relatively low key Fourth for me. Ommegang Hennepin and Samuel Smith nutbrown were specifically set aside for this weekend. I'm sure I'll mix in a few others. I'm marinating some chicken breasts in Ayinger Dopplebock for tonite's bbq. Looking forward to that one.
Hmm...it'll be 102 here today, so stouts and porters are out of the question. So my Bridgeports will have to wait. Probably will go with the Full Sail IPA and maybe some more Singletrack copper ale. Keep it kinda light. I've even got a few bottles of Shiner Kolsch (they renamed their Summertime beer, BTW). A few other odds and ends are in there, so I'll probably play the field. If it's not too damned hot along about dark, we'll probably throw various parts of dead animals on the coals.
I'll have the only US beer in the house, a Liberty Ale to celebrate today - happy 4th to everyone stateside. Then I'll have something domestic to celebrate Canada Day (July 1st); I had to work the 1st. Then I'll follow up with whatever's in the back of the fridge (mostly Europeans if I recall).
The Schlafly Taproom was awesome and Morgan Street was quite nice as well. Thanks for being a great beer guide in STL! I'm still not totally recovered, though. Brett
