Black Husky Brewing

Up in the hinterlands of far northeastern Wisconsin things are done a little differently. While we don't live a subsistence lifestyle we do tend to be more self-reliant than our cousins in the city. (Okay we're cheap!) We also tend to be a little behind the curve on new trends. For instance, our friends in the city have their "city" heat that they adjust with a thermostat, where up here most of us supplement our heat with wood. When we moved here from Milwaukee in 1999, we wanted to drink good beer but good beer hadn't quite made its way up here yet. So, like all good "northwoodsmen" we decided to make our own! However, simple homebrewing quickly took on a life of its own! With the urging of our friends we decided to open a nano-brewery, which is not quite a microbrewery, but in many ways reflective of the tradition of breweries in years past that would serve a small town or neighborhood. We produce beer in five to ten gallon batches which gives us great flexibility in producing a wide variety of beers. Howler is our Black Husky and appointed representative of our small sled dog kennel that was started by our son, Jake. Our kennel is now more of a retirement home but each of our dogs is a part of our family and the inspiration for our brewery. You'll be seeing a lot of them in days to come! The human members of Black Husky Brewing are Tim Eichinger and Toni Eichinger, who would never have been able to do this without the help of a long list of friends who contribute in a wide variety of ways. Some of our friends give us feedback on the beers, while others suggest ideas for beer names or different ingredients, help fill bottles, provide junk or sample beers. We have noticed though that a disproportionate amount of the "help" comes in the form of sampling. Go figure! We look forward to adding you to that long list of friends!
