This is a very dificult stout to comment on..because in Scotland, it is NEARLY ALWAYS used as a mixer. It is combined with 70 or 80 shilling ale to make a drink called & Black and Tan which is named after a famous Scottish soldier regiment called the Black Watch. So, on it's own, it is VERY sweet and almost undrinkable t my mind but used in it's normal combo..it produces a a lovely Scottish traditional drink called a 'black and tan'. I will judge it in its combination form as it really is VERY seldom drunk it's natural state.

Is this supposed to be a sweet stout? It's more like a flat soda, than anything else I've ever tasted. The color is average for a stout, but the mouthfeel, is like a flat root beer, so is the flavor. Overall, I'd say skip this one.

(Bottle). Extremely sweet low ABV (2%) Scottish stout, traditionally recommended for nursing mothers and convalescents to regain their strength. Scotsmen drink it mixed half & half with Guinness. Might be a good idea. I had it on its own at room temperature, and found it way too sweet, nearly undrinkable. Would probably be better at cellar temperature.
