The St. Charles is a classic E.S.B. cask conditioned and dry hopped with Cascades. 10% crystal malt gives this ale a deep brick color and a slight roast flavor. The E.S.B. is bittered with Bullion hops and is finished with Cascade and Willamette hops.

Sampler. Could not detect any aroma. The flavor is non-existent. Hard to believe this is a cask conditioned. ESB's aren't necessarily very hoppy, but this had next to none. Would not recommend this one.

Sampled at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown color. Aroma was malty and hoppy. Flavor was a light hoppy taste. Nothing too great. An above-average brewpub IPA.

Nice amber color and faint caramel taste. I know ESB, Fuller’s ESB is a friend of mine, and St Charlie is no Fullers! It’s got the wrong hop profile and smells of BO. Even cask conditioning can’t save this one.
