Our goal is an intensely tropical Wally experience to make you feel like you’re on that much needed beach vacation. We started with a grain bill utilizing our favorites; Sinagua malt as a base, raw Blue Beard Durum & malted Sonora White wheat from Grain R&D, and a bit of flaked oats to balance it all out. Hops on this one were a blast to sort out, we think the combo of all these varieties have caused this Wally to be a straight up Tiki inspired ipa with no fruit/coconut hurt in the making. Whirlpool got chilled down and blasted with Strata hops from Crosby Hop Farms. Then heavily dry hopped mid fermentation with our Wally dry hop rate—lots of Cashmere for some smooth coconut vibes, followed by Idaho 7 lending some big pineapple/mango flavors, Azacca gets sprinkled in the mix for its massive tropical/citrus profile. The end result is ridiculous! Like your favorite beachside tiki drink. Be like Wally. Stay home and drink TIPAs.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

Rated June 2020. Pint can pours with a murky opaque papery dull gold colored body that supports a lasting light tan head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up guava, cantaloupe and a thin cloud of grapefruit and tangelo. The taste is bold in its tropical fruitiness with mango, guava, cantaloupe and honeydew. Around those soft juicy edges are slightly more bitter tangy notes of orange, a bit of pink grapefruit and a sense of tangelo. This comes across nicely but it can use a bigger citrus hop to tangy bite to better balance the soft sweet tropical flavor that dominates the experience. The ABV, as usual with this series, is very well hidden.
