This beer is a result of our curiosity in heavy handed additions of local, raw wheat varieties (via @grainrandd) in our hazy IPA format. While we typically blend in Sonoran white, both raw and malted, we want to start pushing ourselves to implement more diversity in something so simple as the type of cereal grain utilized in these IPAs. About 40% of this grain bill is an equal blend of raw “QC Red” & “Red Fife”. R&D is hopped with both Centennial & Enigma in the whirlpool. Then dry hopped towards the end of fermentation with @billygoatfarms Chinook & Crystal (and a bit of German grow Mandarina Bavaria), using our standard single IPA dry hop rate. Incredibly soft with a wheat character that reminds us of a soft freshly baked country loaf. These hops from our friends in Montrose completely saturated the aroma. They’ve managed to take these old school hop varieties and grow/package them in a way that completely transforms them to something much more new and exciting. Tropical red fruit punch, overripe mandarin, communion wine right after eating those tiny little crackers. Overall this is an incredibly drinkable IPA that keeps things a little fresh, some new flavor profiles that keep these beers exciting.

Rated Sept. 2020. Pint can pours with an opaque dull gold colored body that supports a nice near white head of foam. The aroma offers up citrus, a dash of lemon and then mango flowing into a thin blueberry sensation. The taste delivers some moderately bitter orange and tangelo citrus rimmed thinly by bitter lemon. Within the hop bitterness are softer notes of mango and blueberry. The malt bill tastes intriguing as I get sweet malts, a wheat malt softness and a thin organic earthy like malt sensation. This is a fun beer with pleasing balance and depth.
