Sampled on 5/23/2010. This Abbey Dubbel pours an opaque very dark brown color from a 33cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is fruity, caramel, banana, yeasty and sweet. A medium bodied dubbel. The malts are dark fruity, sweet, fruity and sweet. There is some banana and clove and yeast in the background. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. Good carbonation. It seems a little light in the mouth, but it drinks fine. Hides the 7% alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. The aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle: Poured a light brown color ale with a good size foamy head with good retention but minimal lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with some light malt notes is definitely unique. Taste is a mix between some candi sugar with some notes nice floral Belgian malt with a unique yeasty finish. Body is quite full with limited filtration and some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A very interesting and somewhat unique take on this style.

Dark brown, almost opaque colour, mediumsized brown foamy head. Aroma is peas, caramel and spices. Flavour contains peas, caramel and cooked vegetables. Quite fullbodied, but sadly not very pleasant as to the aroma and flavour.

Clear reddish brown. Banana, prunes and almond in the aroma. Clean flavour of dark bready malts, herbs, chocolate and banana. Dry yeasty aftertaste with undertones from banana and blackberries.

Dark, reddish, brown with large. steady, tan head. Lots of fruit in the aroma (prunes), with malt and caramel. Quite a carbonated, medium mouthfeel. Dry, malty, caramel, spicey and alcohol in the taste. Good dubbel.
