Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9
A gem. Came in a 12 oz. glass, hazy golden color, with almost no head. Aroma is a bit of sweet malt and woody aromas, that are being mauled by pungent orange and lemon rind scented hops. Flavor is very complex, and not as one-sided as you would expect from a double IPA. Starts off very sweet, a bit earthy and nutty, and a touch of alcohol. All that is soon overpowered by delicious juicy hops. Citric flavors dominate the hop profile, grapefruit, orange peel, and a bit piney as well. A real gem. I can't wait for 2004's version!
