Now that I'll be home for a while, I can finally get to tasting and reviewing all of the different beers that I've hand-carried back from my recent business trips. This includes this particular Wheat Beer from VA, that I brought with me to a get-together at Karen's parent's place.
Overall, really can't say that this wow'ed me. Rather, it seemed to do little more than dull the senses and underwhelm the palate.
Quite dull in appearance. What little carbonation this beer had (and any head formation it achieved) faded away within scant minutes of this being poured. I suppose the same can be said for the aroma: what little there was to this beer definitely didn't improve with time. Rather, it seemed almost as if the aroma departed at the same time as the head of foam..., leaving behind a dull-looking and dull-smelling beer in my glass.
Average flavor profile, that was bolstered a touch by the not-unappealing mouthfeel (the beer's only real Pro vs. all of the Cons). Nothing too horrible per se, but..., at the same time, nothing that really made this beer stand out from any number of other fair-to-middling Wheat Beers.
A "fair" Wheat Beer at best, and an disappointingly dull Wheat Beer at worst. Scoring-wise, I'll split the difference -- which still doesn't amount to much in the grand scheme of things....

This wasn't a bad beer...a step up from their Porter. Poured beautifully with a nice thick creamy head and left a nice lacing on the glass. I liked the taste...a simple wheat beer. It's definitely better than their Porter.

I was not terrribly impressed with this beer. It has a very tart taste to it, there may have beer something a little off. It was fairly light bodied, with a bland flavor.

An unfiltered, highly effervescent light golden ale. Pleasant citrus overtones in the aroma. Flavor is delicately balanced with Centennial and Liberty hops. Medium body. No fruit has been added, but a slice of lemon on the rim of your glass will complement the citrus aftertaste. The result is truly a refreshing ale.

I got this beer while vacationing in Williamsburg. It's sold in just about every gift shop in the area, along with the pale ale. I only tried it once, but it was a total waste. Very watered down and poor quality. It's brewed by Old Dominion, but doesn't go beyond what you should expect from a tourist's novelty beer!
