Lemongrass Wheat Ale is brewed with a unique mixture of malts and muscat grape juice. This brew has a traditional malt backbone, hints of late harvest grape sweetness, and a distinct lemongrass flavor and aroma. Champagne and ale yeasts were used in tandem to produce a sparkling, crisp, yet fruity profile. Alchemy and Crystal hops balance and compliment the citrus, earthy, and spicy notes of the beer.

22 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with a small fizzy white head that quickly goes to a dusting.
The aroma is sweet citric wheaty malts, honey and grapes.
The flavor is bready malts, sweet grape juice and honey with some musty yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and a bit watery with some slight spritzy carbonation.
Overall, it's OK - overly sweet. -

Strong, wheaty aroma has a decided overtone of lemon, and in some ways is more like a cider than a beer. Lemon cider? Lemon curry? OK, back to the review. It pours a pretty clear amber, but not much head. Crisp flavor has a malty core, strong fruity notes with grape dominating, and an overtone of lemon, rather sour but actually pleasantly so. From the lemongrass, I presume - distinctive and tasty. In addition, there is a subtle, bitter hoppy undertone. Sharp texture has good body and some fizz. Keep up the good work, Widmer Brothers! Your reserve beers may not be the absolute best, but they are distinctive and fun to try.

Sampled on 12/3/2011. This wheat beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing. The aroma is cereal, Muscat grapes, fruit and sweet. A light to medium bodied wheat beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, with lots of Muscat grape flavor, there is a hint of lemongrass at the finish. The hops are herbal and earthy. Light carbonation. Interesting blend of flavors. I like the way the Muscat grapes mix and blend with the wheat/malts and the lemongrass. A touch of grape tannins at the finish. Overall it a touch sweet but it works. Hides the 9% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

A rather interesting beer, the unusual combo of lemongrass and grapes gives this a unique flavor and aroma, of spice, citrus, hay, grape and sweetnes that I surprisingly enjoyed. It was fresh and lively in both areas, the alcohol wasn't as noticeable as you would think for 9%. Overall I can see how some folks wouldn't like this but I do

A cloudy golden orange colored beer with a small frothy textured white head. There's no hang time. It settles fairly quickly leaving a thin ringlet. Grape sweetness in the nose. The spiciness of the lemongrass dominates in the tasting. Not offensively though. A light bodied beer, good carbonation, I don't get the high alcohol purported to be in this beer.
