    12oz bottle -

Aroma - a delicate bouquet?? LOL...Aroma is light malt, table sugar sweetness and a touch of earthy bitterness

Appearance - clear amber body, creamy white 2-finger head, nice retetion, decent lacing

Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, light mouthfeel

Flavor - slightly metallic tasting, more plain table sugar, earthy/woody bitterness

Overall - quaffable and sessionable, yep and yep. Barely average though, so worth it if it's on sale. Decent.

Aroma and flavor a light pleasant mix of cereal and grassy hops. Delicate bouquet, maybe a little toast. Good job on the style though probably not good enough to go back to.

Sampled on 3/18/2013. This California Common/Steam beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with good lacing. The aroma is bready and caramel, with some fruit and perhaps some hoppiness. A medium bodied California Common. The malts are caramel, bready and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy. Its quite hoppy for a steam beer, perhaps the Pacific Northwest treatment of the style. Decent carbonation. It does seem to be missing that full mouthfeel one usually has in a steam beer, but it makes up for that with a very nice hop profile. Nice session beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This may be the 2nd California Common/steam that I sampled besides Anchor Steam. Didn't have that semi-creamy texture and not as malty. Seemed more like a pale ale almost. Aroma had a slight skunk to it. Is an OK spring/summer beer, or for a lighter dinner pairing....but that's about it.

Comes out of the tap an attractive clear amber with a decent pale golden-tan head - not thick, but that is apparently an artifact of the pour. Malty aroma has notes of banana, grassy hops and spice. Flavor has notes of malt, hops, banana, horehound and a snipped of cloves & cinnamon. Smooth, satisfying texture has a persistent fizz and leaves a hoppy, fruity finish. Long live the Columbia hop!

Light copper pour with a big white head. Aroma of grains and toasted malt with just a hint of grassy, floral hops. Mostly malty, grainy taste with a touch of floral hop bitterness. Rather boring.
