A bold, West Coast India Pale Ale. Citrus and Stone Fruit flavour and aroma from copious amounts of Galaxy, Simcoe and Centennial hops. In September 1985 Kazukio Sakamoto took his vessel, the Kazu Maru, out to fish in local waters of Owase Japan. Tragically neither he nor the boat returned home. A year and a half later the Kazu Maru was found in Skidegate Channel, towed to Prince Rupert and restored. It now sits just up the road from us in Mariners Park. Sakamoto’s wife referred to the Kazu Maru as ‘the love of his life’. Coincidentally, the two cities of Owase and Prince Rupert had become ‘sister cities’ in 1968. This IPA, which like the sea is bold yet balanced, is named in honor of those who have fallen in love with the sea, and who have given their life to it. It also honours the poetic connections that we have between our environment and the world around us. Out of chaos comes beauty.
