This incredibly intriguing Stout is made by aging our Old Heathen to perfection in Oak barrels that were used to age bourbon. Notes of Oak, whiskey, and vanilla meld beautifully with the roastiness of our Imperial Stout.

Trade w/ Steven. Black color, short lasting brown foam head. Coffee in aroma, smooth drinking w/ coffee and vanilla taste, oak and smooth whiskey tones. Nice. (Velp 201605)

Pours a deep, opaque black-brown with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head, quite appealing. Aroma is strong, smoky and fruity with a good alcohol ting like brandy and a subtle hint of unsweetened chocolate. Flavor is more like a barleywine than a stout, fruity and chocolaty with a brandy-like bite. The fruit and chocolate aspects actually complement each other rather than fighting it out on the tongue. There are also hints of smoke or charcoal and licorice. Texture is smooth as milk, yet edgy and a little tingly.

Pours out 100% black with a massive brown foamy head. The aroma is of chocolate, coffee and a mild hint of whiskey. The mouthfeel is think, rich and smooth. The flavor is the same as the aroma plus roasted malt.

Poured a pitch black color, nice thickness, nice rich tan/brown color head. Aromas of roasted toffee, coffee, dark chocolate. Taste- vanilla from the oak, milk chocolate, roasty notes. Smooth, and mellow, a nice barrel aged imp. stout.

Looking good. Black with a tight tan head which reduces to a tin cap that clings to the glass. Some aroma of chocolate and maybe a slight hint of bourbon. Splendid flavour full of the usual impy stout stuff. Don't get much bourbon though. Needs more body.

A jet black beer on pour. A big creamy textured, tan colored head rises majestically above. There's decent hang time, settling eventually into a thick creamy ringlet atop the body. There's roasted malt and burnt caramel in the nose. Sweet fruit and bourbon in the tasting. The downside to all this, a light bodied beer.

served at 53 degrees, it still took a bit for the bourbon to really come out and play. it started a touch thin and stayed that way, but that’s where the criticism ends. i really dug this beer and the mix of sweet chocolate goodness, peppery bourbon, and warming alcohol were quite well done. i’ll likely search out again. 2nd batch about a 4.0, not of the same quality as the first.

It's probably heresy to say that the Heresy is not a great beer, but it's not a great beer. Sure...it's very dark brown, sure it's got a nice tight tan coloured head, but the roasted malt aroma is lacking in intensity, as is the coffee/chocoladen flavour I've come to expect from an imperial stout. Average at best.

Poured a deep black with nougat colored head. The aroma had notes of coffee, tobacco, and dried fruit. There was quite a boozy taste that wasn't unpleasent The carbonation was very low All things said this reminded me of port. ( I like port) a good choice to sip by the fire.

Pretty much an average Imperial Stout. Nice near black appearnce...thick with good lacing. Dark mocha head that is on the lighter side. The aroma isn't all that great, sort of soy-sauceish...but a lot of imperial stouts are like that from the higher alcohol content. Tastes of chocolate malt, not too much hops going on with this one....good balanced flavor though. At first I thought it was a bit sour (maybe from the fruits goin on), but grew on me towards the end. Good sipping beer, a little pricey though. Worth the try, but dunno if I'd be buying again in the near future.
