Fear not parched wanderers, for today we unchain LINEAR ASHES - Rauchbier Spezial, We got together with our fellow travelers over at @structuresbrewing and cast embers amongst the twigs and logs only to emerge victorious with the Gold Medal for Smoked Beers from the Oregon Beer Awards. Our labor rises from the ash a full bodied, very-special smoked lager beer. Herbal and dry with a distinctive dose of Beechwood smoke, Rauchbier Spezial is a celebration of Bamberg beer

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Pint can pours with a crystal clear pure gold body that supports a thin white head off foam. The aroma offers up soft clouds of beachwood like smokiness that's thinly ringed in bacon and then mild notes of the malty base. The taste delivers a pleasing level of smooth smokiness that has that thin rim of inviting pork. Like the nose the smoke gives a little ground to a thin sweet maltiness that only offers up the faintest of fruity esters. Solid easy drinking rauch-er. The only 'knock' for me would be it could use more smokiness. But that's me.
