A big, rich oatmeal stout. Roasted barley and chocolate malts provide espresso-like bitterness while the oatmeal contributes smoothness and mouth feel.

On tap @ Uber Tavern in Seattle (2009). Pours deep and dark with near creamy mocha head. The aroma starts roasty and nutty followed by rich chocolate. The flavor is blended smoothness with roastiness to burnt malts up front followed by notes of chocolate and sweet caramel. Midway burnt malts well up and take over briefly followed by a murmur of dark fruitiness. It ends mildly creamy on the palate with burnt and roasty notes. Wow. Very yummy sweet stout.

I had this beer last night at the Green Dragon in Portland. I heard of the brewery a couple nights before, interestingly enough. This beer had a nice black color, darker than the other 2 stouts I drank side by side. Nice tan head and lots of lacing. Not much aroma that I could detect at first. Velvety smooth and creamy texture and finishes very dry. A little bit of roasted malt and oats. No annoying astringent flavors like some of the others. It's on the higher side of ABV for a stout, but plays very well. Not complex or unusual, but it's good for what it is.
