Yes, that’s right, asparagus. This beer was developed for the Stockton Asparagus Festival held each April in Stockton. An infusion of fresh Asparagus juice is created and then blended into a Pale Wheat Ale. The flavor is quite clean and refreshing. The beer is served with a stalk of Asparagus in each glass.

Tasted on tap at brewpub. This wheat ale pours a medium gold color from tap. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruit, cereal and sweet. Medium bodied veggie/wheat beer. Malts are cereal and grainy. There is a touch of vegetable flavor here and is quite subtle. This really tastes like a decent wheat ale with a little more solid body and mouthfeel, without that grainy sharpness that is typical in a wheat. Nice carbonation. Crisp and clean. Light and refreshing. Interesting beer. Perhaps a novelty, but it works. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

What can ya say about this beer? It's made with asparagus. Okay, so that sounds a bit odd. It's actually very clean, quite refreshing and little to no asparagus character to it at all. Aroma is lightly hopped, light cracker notes too. Appearance is a hazy light yellow color, white head. Flavor is light cracker, a little bitter and a clean finish. I can see this going down nicely while sitting in the hot sun at the Ass-pa-Ragus fest.
