Clear dark ruby, off-white lasting, lacing foam head. Decent caramel aroma, warm caramel toned taste. Not too sweet, just right, great beer. (Velp 201511)

330 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Strong sweetish malty aroma, notes of caramel and brown kandij sugar, hints of dark fruits and chocolate. The flavour is also malty with notes of caramel - sweet, but not too much. Also notes of brown kandij sugar, and a very moderate spiciness in the finish. Very moderate hops. Smooth and pleasant to drink.

One can never go wrong with one of these here Abbey Dubbels, especially if it's straight from Belgium. This one is dark brown, reddish edges, and a brown bubbly head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and sugar. The flavour is more of the same with a dryness associated with it....and some plum-like tones.

This beer has got a strong malty, occidant aroma and a dark ruby colour. It's a bit troubled with some deposit floating in it, and there's a small fizzy foam collar on top that tends to shrink quite fast. It tastes acidic at first, but when that passes a slight cheesy taste can be sensed along with a bit of cedar wood. Overall the acidic feeling takes over the flavors which makes it it unpleasant to drink, although the acidity tends to fade after a couple of minutes.

Pours a mild, cloudy brown, with a thick, off-white head, leaving a nice lacing. It smelled of tons of malt. Also, dried fruit and nut aromas were present. Tastes of Grapes and plums mostly and alcohol. Cloves and maybe a light touch or corriander.

Dark ruby red colour, with sediments floating around. Head is big, fluffy and brownish and leaves lace. Aroma is barnyard and alcohol. Slight hints of malts. Very boring aroma in fact. Flavour is metallic, yeasty and some alcohol. Slight nuttyness also when it gets a bit warmer. Quite barnyardish and earthy in the finish and aftertaste. Surprisingly thin palate. Not too bad, just boring.

Pours a dark mohagony with ruby highlights. There's a one inch head that fades slowly to a thin cap, which never disappears, leaving behind a thick webbing of lace. Smell; this smells very strongly of plums and caramel malts. There's a bit of a vinous quality, with some grapes and a bit of alcohol. As this warms some breadiness, and spices start to come out. Taste; starts off with dark roasted malts, choclate and caramel, and just a bit on the sugary side. The dark fruits come out nicely, but melds well with the little bit of alcohol that comes through. There's a bit of spices, with some corriander and maybe some cloves, with a little hop bitterness thrown into the mix. Mouthfeel is medum bodied.. Even with the sweetness the drinkablitly is pretty high on this one.

Clear dark reddish brown with a massive light grey foam. Aroma of yeast, toasted malts, banana and breadrusts. Flavour is yeasty and slightly roasty, notes of banana-peels, oranges and sweet kicorice. Warming and quite thick mouthfeel. Licorice, banana and yeast in the spicy aftertaste. Quite nice dubbel but not among the best ones

03.16.05 11.2oz bottle dated March 2006. Dark brown-red with a shaving cream thick and creamy tan head. Malty and sweet but ordinary aromas. Creamy body, wet, zero bitterness or dry hops. Slight metallic twinge to taste. Flavors of coffee, cocoa, blood, raisin, some banana. It seems to be missing something where there should be spice. So-so stuff.

Pours a dark brown colour with a white head and great lacing. Nice aroma of sweet dark fruit with some slight chocolate to it. Mouthfeel is quite smooth with some carbonation, yet earthy at the same time. Many flavors to this one with the strongest being of mocha with a touch of prunes. The chocolate and mocha flavors really intensify as the beer warms. I'll try this one again, if I can find it again!!
