Brewed under direction of Hildegard van Ostaden, formerly at Van Steenberge, now at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery. With its rich foam, hoppy flavour and fine bitterness, Urthel Vlaemse Bock is a special ale with a high drinkability for lovers of the authentic Flemish brewing art. Vlaemse Bock as originally brewed for the winter, but is now available in 33 cl. (330 ml./ 11.2 FL.OZ.), 75 cl. (750 ml./1 PT. 9.4 FL. OZ.) and kegs the whole year. You can only buy Urthel Vlaemse Bock in the United States. 330 ml gusher bottle, as Urthel Vlaemse Bock, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 7.5%. Cloudy dark brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Malty and slightly sickly sweetish aroma, notes of molasses, oak and dark dried fruits. Rich malty flavour, sweet but not extreme, notes of caramel, molasses and brown kandij sugar. Minimal hops.

330 ml capped bottle, as Urthel Parlus Magnificum. Poured in the original Urthel imposing stemmed tulip glass a gushing unfiltered hazy dark brown-red coloured ale with a two fingers tan creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. A lot of floating sediments. The aroma is caramel malts, spicy, cinnamom, licorice, dark ripe fruits, figs, plums, raisins, dates. The flavour is toasted malts, brown sugar, spicy, licorice, fruity, raisins, dates. The mouthfeel is creamy and quite smooth. This medium bodied ale has a dry spicy finish. An enjoyable Belgian A D.

Really a strange beer. Like a flemish sour, but also like a bock. Burnt wheat, sour cherries, sour cherries, bathtub hooch, soap, slightly brownsugary/bitter citus hop profile. Super complex malt base to back it up. Seems to be a technically great beer that I just find difficult to stomach. Seems to also have a stange peat/smoke/oak/wood aroma. Really just quite stange. Alcohol prominent but complementary. Figs and raisins. I could see myself developing a taste for it if it was readly available.

Recently available at Binny's. THis beer is a brown beer, with a light brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and molasses. There is a lot of sweetness in the flavour, some yeast, and some roasted maltiness.

Dark brown opaque colour with big creamy beige head. Aroma is yeast, caramel, toffee, hops, fruits and malts. Flavour is yeast, slight almost metallicness and a lot of malts. Also much caramel, some signs of alcohol and a bit spices do show.
