Chambly Noire is a smooth and creamy dark beer with a beige and persistent head. Its torrefaction aromas and slight bitterness enable it to perfectly accompany various fish dishes, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts.

Opened this over the sink as I was expecting fizz and got it. Lots of burping going on with this beer. Just above average in every category for me. Fruity and yeast in the nose and flavour. Won't buy again

Carefully cellared away for a few years, finally brought to light. Color of rich coffee with a dense khaki cap that's slow to dissolve into persistent lace. Sweet and tart raisin, bread, and lemon aroma I expect from the style, but the flavor is neither tart nor very sweet. It's a balanced sweetness on roasted grain, almost a suggestion of char, grape, or even muscadine; toasty bread that's not so fruity as many beers this style. As much as I tend to like the other, I'm enjoying this a lot too. Good fine carbonation, creamy and lightly sticky, some heft to it.

pours a very dark brown with a creamy but shor-lived tan head. The armoa is a sweet smell, mainly of dark fruits (cooked raisins and a bit of dates and prunes) and cognac. The taste has plenty of dark fruit flavor with prunes and raisins dominant. A yeasty dark bread flavor as a base. Hints of vanilla, cooked peaches, white pepper and cognac. A touch of tartness keeps the sweetness in control. The mouthfeel is good, medium-low carbonation; creamy smooth; slight dryness in the finish.

fruit and spice in a belgian beer. not unique in that, or in it's similarity to several other Unibroue beers, but not bad. May try it again during the summer.

Signature Unibroue yeast..... yup its unibroue, carmel malts, thinner than some of the other beers, including the blanche, its really a hodge podge of flavours, all over the board, getting some tart intense red and green jolly rancher, all the way to candied cherries.... something like jagermiester might be there. I hate to say it but Im not really a fan... maybe its cause i was drinking mcauslan oatmeal stout before this review.

Very dark ruby color. Almost looks brown. Light tan, small bubbled, tight head. Sort of a creamy and soapy mix in texture. The head had nice size and retention. Left some pretty appealing lacing also. In the aroma, I detected some sweetness similar to a dark grape. I picked up hints of apple juice. Maybe some roasted grain or bread and even a cherry hint. The taste revealed some more sweetness. This time something more akin to a light cranberry juice. The taste remains rather sweet and somewhat medicinal throughout. Some of the roasted malt comes along accompanied by a fair amount of bitterness. Some slight alcohol flavors follow everthying up. Dark cherry in there too. Medium to medium/full mouthfeel. Seems a touch harsh going down. Some alcohol warmth helps cover the palate. The aftertaste lingers for quite sometime. This beer is ok. Not my favorite flavor. It's a bit like drinking cherry flavored cough syrup. A little too medicinal. I might be able to have one or two, but I'd probably call it quits after that. It's a little sweet for my palate.

Bottled@EBF2008. Amber colour, mediumsized head. Aroma is fruits, caramel and some hops. Flavour is plum, fruits, caramel, hops and quite much yeast. Also some slight wheaty notes. Quite sweet and mildly spicy finish.

Far more carbonation than I would have imagined. The head rises quickly when poured, so caution is recommended. Light aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Head lingers and laces well. Beautiful deep color. Nice velvetty smooth on the pallatte. Flavor is same as aroma, but pleasantly intensified. Very nice.

The flavor is decent on this one, but besides that it is pretty much forgetable. Some good chocolate malty characteristics, and hop finish is nice. Appearance is dark brown. Not sure if it was the bottles/age, but the aroma seemed a bit on the skunky side. Smelled like champagne, with some fruity notes, which is why I am rating aroma closer to 5 versus 4. Maybe a fresher bottle would help, but I wasn't really too fond of the smell. Like I said though, flavor makes up for this beer, and anything decent is worth a try IMO. Been sampling some different Canadian brews recently, but this hasn't been one of my favorites........................ .......................................................................... Update 8/30/10- Sampled my last one and this grew on me. I may get another 4-pack to know for sure. Upgraded both mouthfeel and overall frolm 7 to 8.
