Golden Spike Hefeweizen is a refreshing traditional American style Hefeweizen. It has a ruddy orange color with a clean and mildly fruity character. Hefeweizen, literally translates to "yeast-wheat." This beer is not filtered thus preserving its full-bodied character and authenticity. It is also generally served with a lemon slice to enhance its naturally occurring estery flavor. Our name is a tribute to the joining of the trans-continental railway in Promontory Point, Utah where the Golden Spike was driven into the ground. Try a glass and see what happens when yeast meets west.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
pours a lighly hazy medium golden hue with a small frothy white foam and a nice effervescence. The aroma is malty with a mild wheat character and a light dusting of hops. The taste is malty with a light fruity character up front and a slightly citrusy but also with a hint of apple. Bitterness is quite low and hops aren't even as prevalent as in the aroma. The mouthfeel is medium body with a good level of carbonation and a good creaminess. Overall this is actually a decent beer.

a solid enough but unspectacular effort. slight bubble gummy, clove and banana aspects struggle to come out. ever so slight citrus and a bubbly feel make this an ok summer beer.

Very nice sweet and banana aroma. The appearance is a cloudy pale yellow and the mouthfeel is rather thick for a wheat beer; it is one of the stronger wheat beers I have had. The flavor is exceptional and very full, unlike some wheat beers. Overall, one of the better wheat beers I have had and one that I could drink in a long drinking section.
