Twisted Pine's adventure in brewing began an unbelievable 15 years ago when Gordon Knight first opened his doors in a small brewery in Boulder, Colorado. To commemorate both Gordon's legacy and love of the hop we at Twisted Pine created Hoppy Knight in his honor. Hoppy Knight pours black as night with a distinct citrus hop aroma. The flavors of this beer strike a beautiful balance between hops and roasted grains. The body is reminiscent of an India Pale Ale, not heavy like a porter or a stout. Twisted Pine was founded in 1995 and has been crafting all natural, unpasteurized pure malt ales ever since. While we are very serious about the art and business of beer making, we try to avoid taking ourselves too seriously. After all we realize brewing a fine beer isn't exactly nuclear physics. It's something far more important.

Pours dark brown with a medium off white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing. The aroma is sweet roasted chocolate malts with some piney, resiny hops. The flavor is roasted bitter chocolate malts with some piney hops in the finish. There's a little bit of bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium boded and watery.

The flavor is roasted bitter chocolate malts with some piney, tarry hops in the finish. There's a good amount of bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium boded and watery.
Overall, a pretty good black IPA. Good bitterness, OK flavors, a bit watery.
