With dense fog, bitter cold, brutal winds and heavy snow, 6,288-foot high Mount Washington has earned its reputation for the "world's worst weather". In 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded a wind gust of 231 mph - a world record to this day. To commemorate this legendary institution, Tuckerman Brewing Company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this Sixty-Two Eighty-Eight Stout to the Mount Washington Observatory.

This stout pours a deep black color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, and coffee with a touch of ash. A medium bodied stout. The malts are roasty with a very small touch of chocolate. The hops are earthy. It’s a little one-dimensional, mostly all roasted malts and a touch thin tasting, Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Cool name and interesting story behind the beer. Unfortunately, the beer wasn't up to snuff. Really a one-dimensional beer if there is one out there. Roasted malts in the nose, roasted malts in the flavor. Okay, if you really dig down....way, way down...you might get a little chocolate in the flavor. But that's really it. Nice looking stout, albeit a bit lighter than most. Medium light brown head. Thin body. Dry finish. No lingering sweetness unfortunately. Almost reminded me of a dry stout in some ways.
