This is the third beer in the Hulks Series named for the decommissioned vessels that make up the floating breakwater in Powell River. Each Hulk has a unique history, so Cèdric wanted to make a unique beer for each one. As he is Belgian, he naturally chose to brew styles from his homeland for the series. Cardena is a Belgian Abbey ale. Contrary to the name, this style of beer refers to anything brewed in a 'similar style' to those brewed in the monasteries of Belgium. Trappiste ale refers to a beer brewed by Monks, Abbey ale refers to a beer brewed by a brewery that may or may not have ties to a religion but is trying to mimic the Trappiste ales.
