Timmermans Tradition Faro is a beer made by adding candy sugar and water to lambic to mellow its acidity. In the 19th century, Faro was very popular in the Brussels area. Various folk traditions were associated with it, and this ambrosial drink flowed abundantly, thanks to its relatively neutral but extremely pleasant flavour. Today, Faro Timmermans is still brewed using the methods and recipes of days gone by, and meets with unanimous approval.

Clear peach color with quickly dissapearing fluffy foam head. Aroma is little sour sweet. Taste is sugar dominated, some sour notes. Fresh sour aftertaste. (Velp 201310)

Nice darkish golden color with huge top. Aroma is sourish, but has some fresh hints of flowers. Taste is a bit sweet but as nice sidekick of bread and cookies. Aftertaste could be a bit stronger, but it is really great and has many nuances.

My first faro, I was surprised by this one, because i normally dont care for lambics. A nice sour apple, and a touch of funkiness in the aroma. A hazy orange body with a thin head that left a little lace. Mouthfeel was on the dry side, and the carbonation gives it a refreshing quality. Flavor was a blast of sweet apple with a nice citrus/ woody sourness that balances it out. Overall i enjoyed this tasty beer, and wish i could get another.

Bottle: Poured a deep orangey color lambic with a small foamy head with not much retention or lacing. Aroma of sour and tart notes with some light funk is surprising – nothing close to actual lambic but still retains some of the characteristics. Taste is quite sweet with some tart notes with some light oak. Not sure why apple juice was added in there but it was not overly noticeable.

Bottled. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is slightly sweet and a bit sour. Candy sugar meets sourness. Flavour mainly the same with some appleish hints. Very dry, not that sour in flavour.

Okay not knowing what to expect, since i have only had 1 true lambic and didn't like it at all. A faros is much much better. Poured a cloudy amber color, there was a little head, unlike the true lambic. Smelled of citrus. Had an awsome taste. Tart and sweet at the same time. Nice refreshing beer.

This was a winner and my favorite lambic to-date. Hooray to faros (if only they were more commonplace here in the states). Pour wasn't exciting, nice little head from the carbonation and average lacing, but the color was boring (cloudy amber yellow or so, looking into the plastic cup). The aroma was funky (barn-like), citric, and somewhat apple-like. The flavor was outstanding, a nice blend of sweetness and tart sourness. Came across with the balance of a good Flemish Sour, but with the lighter flavors more strong (no vinegar) and a wheat-like base prominent. Sour apples (cidery) were detected. The mouthfeel was light and carbonated, somewhat soda-like.

Orange, head soon disipated. Sweet applely aroma. Fairly well balanced sweet and sour flavour. Medium mouthfeel, sour finish. Average. Nothing more to add.
