Pours a brownish amber with a minimal head that disappears before you can set the bottle down. Faint cider smell and sweet tobacco. Malty taste with some bready notes. Not much alcohol present on the taste. Maybe some banana

Thanks, Lou! Very nice Scottish style, bold and robust in every respect yet overpowering in none. Sweet caramel permeate the nose and the pallette. Deep brown pour with a faint head.

From a recent beer haul in oHIo: Dark caramel pour with a tight short cream-colored head that reduces to a constant tight cap and ring with heavy droopy lacing. Lightly roasted sweet caramel malt and cocoa aroma with a touch of ripe fruits. Huge malty caramel and chocolate flavor with some ripe fruits, lightly hopped and barely bitter. Malt bomb for certain, robust and hardy - very very good.

355 ml bottle, from Ølbutikken (or was it Høkeren?), Copenhagen. Mahogany coloured beer, moderate cream-coloured head. Malty aroma, some woody and caramel notes, also roasty notes with hints of cold coffee, also hints of smoke and chocolate. Rich malty flavour, fairly sweet with notes of caramel and chocolate, also mild roasty notes in the finish, just a touch of smoke, very moderate hops. Pleasant to drink.

Very malty aroma with a hint of fruit in the back. It tastes very true to the style but almost overdone, too heavy and sweet maltiness followed by very earthy aftertaste. Easy to drink just one but not at all something you'd want a lot of.

Pours brown with a thin tan head and a buttload of lacing. Aroma is yeasty but sweet. Mouthfeel is watery with a sweet overtone. Flavor is malty and sweet with a drying finish. Decent rendition of a ScotAle.

The color is a hazy dark-shade of amber. The nose is sweet and aromatic, picking up a sense of figs and berries. The texture is smooth on the tongue, with a light carbonation. The flavor is mapley with a little bittersweet touch. This delicious scotch ale is one to be remembered.

Rounding out my top 5 at the GTMW: First beer I tried at the fest. After it settles, you're looking at a hazey mahogany coloured brew with a light brown head. Instant richness in the aroma. Caramel, some bourbon and raisins on the nose with flavours of honey, fig and black cherry with a deep earthy finish. Incredibly tastey beer, definately one of my favorite offerings from 3F. 5 Dec '09 update: On tap at Dexter's- still amazing. A little more rich then I remembered but still awesome.
