The Flemish Red is the name of a breed of dairy cows. Beer, she was born March 28, 1999 at the inauguration of a statue of the animal at Bergues. Brewed for the occasion at the request of ranchers, this beer a day was established as a specialty course Flemish. "Rather amber robe, his little nose of citrus peel encourages a taster mousse nutty toasted. Material bright on the palate, with a harmonious and beautiful flower bouquet to note hopped continuing to the final ". Taste Magazine July-August 2001. Recommended by the Brotherhood of Bergues cheese.

750 ml capped bottle bought at he brewery. Poured in the original, special designed, Esquelbecq glass an unfiltered hazy burgundy-brown coloured ale with a good two fingers tan foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Mid-sized carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is sourish fruits, apples, berries, lemon. The flavour is pronounced sourish fruits, dark berries, green apples, combined to a heavy floral hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is quite sparkling and fulled. This medium bodied ale has a long bitter and sourish finish. A very interesting ale, a unique flavour right in the way of the neigbouring Flemish Sour Ales.

Bottle: Poured a clear light reddish color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of lightly sour notes with some oak notes. Taste is also a light mix between some oak and some sourness with some light vinous notes. Body is average for the style with some good carbonation. This beer really reminded me of the Classic Rodenbach and would be perfect for a hot summer day.
