On April 21st 1836, the Texian army had been involved in the "Runaway Scrape" for weeks and reached San Jacinto after the Mexican Army destroyed Harrisburg (just east of present-day downtown Houston). The army was frustrated and ready to fight so, as the Mexican army approached, General Sam Houston instructed "Deaf" Smith to destroy Vince's Bridge. The bridge crossed Sims Bayou and was the only escape route for the Mexican Army. Broken Bridge is a classic Bavarian-style Dunkelweizen. This "dark-wheat" ale is delicate and is perfect compliment to our Texas Summers.

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

First brew from this new company, Broken Bridge pours a deep reddish brown body that is slightly hazy. The head started off Big and pillowy but receded quickly to a thin off white cap. Aromas of banana and some caramel malts. Mouthfeel is a touch prickly with the carbonation. Flavor starts with banana and clove hints with a long caramel finish. Overall not my favorite dunkel but not bad.
